ONE FIXTURE dominates the domestic rugby calendar this weekend as Garryowen and Young Munster meet on Friday night in Dooradoyle.
The Division 1A clash sees second placed Young Munsters travel to face fifth placed Garryowen. With just two games remaining, both sides will be looking for that vital win to secure their play off hopes for this season.
With the top four sides making the semi finals, the two camps will know that more than bragging rights are up for grabs, as a home semi final will benefit the clubs both on and off the field. Kick off on Friday night is at 7.30pm.
In Division 1B, things are really tight at the bottom for both UL Bohemians and Shannon. UL Bohemians have a chance to move out of the relegation play off spot with a win over already relegated Belfast Harlequins, should Dolphin lose this weekend. Shannon will avoid getting into a last day fight to avoid the play offs should they defeat Blackrock away this weekend. However, should Shannon lose, they could see themselves looking over their shoulders in their final home game on April 16.
In Divison 2A, Thomond face a trip to Cashel this weekend in the last round of fixtures this season. Unfortunately for Thomond, the fight to stay in the Division was lost last weekend and now the Limerick City side must plan for life in 2B next season.
Joining Thomond in that Division for the 2016/17 season will be Old Crescent. The Rosbrien side secured the 2C title last weekend. This Saturday, in what promises to be a good game, the ‘OC’ take on second placed Tullamore. One club hugely interested in that result will be Old Crescent’s neighbours Bruff. The men from Kilballyowen host bottom side Dundalk as the county Limerick men try and secure second spot in the Division and in doing so, a home semi final/play off spot.
