ANDREW Conway faces Treviso this afternoon still trying to get to grips with his new role as full back for Munster. The former winger has been filling the boots of retired Feliz Jones in the past number of weeks and is beginning to enjoy it.
Enjoying Full back?
Yes, yes, but I am still learning. Every match is throwing up something that I am not doing as well as I should be. It is great having Felix (Jones) in because he has years and years of experience there. It’s good to have chats with lads like Simon Zebo also, to bounce ideas off of each other, as there is plenty to work on.
You are getting to see plenty of ball too, coming into the line?
Ya, not as much ball as I would have liked to. That is more down to me in terms of game appreciation and game management from a 15’s point of view. It’s different from the wing, where you are running trail lines and it is more about knowing when to get into the line and when to be part of the secondary line. It’s about learning to know when to get the ball out wide and also when to keep it in tight. It’s more about game management where you can help your centres and out half from the full back position.
Two points in the last two games. Is it frustrating as a team not to be kicking on for the last two points (wins) ?
We got two points from the last two games and we were a try away from getting 10 points. In saying that, at the start of the year, we were on the right end of a few bonus point wins a close games. They come and they go. That is just part of the sport, you need to be on the team that is on the right end of the results more of the time. That is down to be more clinical in attack as well as fixing those errors, be they system errors or missed tackles in the game.
Face a physical side this weekend?
Ya, we face Treviso this weekend, for the fourth time. Obviously we had them in the Champions Cup and nothing comes easy with them, especially out there. They are on a good run. They had a tough start to the year, but they have won two in a row now. It is going to be a tough game and one we massively need.
